  13. Program Description:

  15. Personal Finance Manager is a sophisticated household personal finance 
  16. management system that has extensive capabilities for managing checking 
  17. accounts, credit cards, savings accounts, and investment accounts.  The 
  18. program is menu-driven and requires no computer knowledge to operate.  A 
  19. cursory review of the operations section of the manual is adequate for 
  20. effective operation of the program.  This program is an 8+ on a scale of 10.

  22. The program provides numerous functions and reports that are useful for 
  23. controlling home (or small business) finances:

  25.     It manages ten (10) separate checking and credit card accounts that 
  26.     record all purchases, withdrawals, interest, etc.  
  27.     
  28.     It has an unpaid bills function to store one-time-only, monthly or 
  29.     annually recurring bills, and prompt when they fall due.  Bills are 
  30.     automatically entered in the checking file when paid.
  31.     
  32.     It has an investment and savings account program that tracks where money 
  33.     is invested and how well those investments are performing.
  34.     
  35.     It has numerous reports, the most interesting being a budget report to 
  36.     show how much was spent in any user defined budget area such as food, 
  37.     entertainment, auto expense, etc..

  39. The documentation consists of a forty-eight (48) page manual which is 
  40. included on the diskette.  It is formatted for printing to the system 
  41. printer using the COPY command.

  43. This program is designed to run on an IBM PC, XT or JR with at least 192K 
  44. bytes of RAM memory, one disk drive, a color graphics or monochrome display, 
  45. and PC DOS 1.1 or higher.  It will not run properly on some "100% 
  46. compatible" systems such as the Zenith 150.  Compatibles that are known to 
  47. properly run the program include Columbia, Compaq, Sanyo (cursor control 
  48. won't work), Eagle (program acts like its on a monochrome PC), Leading Edge 
  49. (program acts like its on a monochrome PC) and Sperry (program acts like its 
  50. on a monochrome PC).
